The Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort Villas & Spa, Cancun is not an all-inclusive resort. Room rates generally cover the villa or studio and access to resort facilities. Meals, drinks, room service and groceries cost extra. Marriott lists breakfast as available for a fee, rather than including it in the standard stay.
Part of the confusion comes from 2 similarly named Cancun properties.

Westin Lagunamar is set up as a villa resort. Depending on the accommodation, guests have a kitchenette or a full kitchen, a dining area and access to grocery delivery. The resort also has an onsite Tierra Market.
What Dining Options Does Westin Lagunamar Offer?
The Westin Lagunamar offers several dining options, but they are not included in the standard room rate:
- Oceano, which serves breakfast and dinner
- Viento Bar & Grill, with poolside dining
- Duna Sports Bar
- Duna Pool Bar
- Tierra Market, which sells groceries, deli items, produce, wine and coffee
- Room service and in-villa dining
Marriott also advertises a dining credit package. This is a limited-value offer, not a plan with unlimited meals and drinks. Breakfast is charged separately unless a particular booking offer states otherwise.
Why Do Some Listings Call It All-Inclusive?
The names of 2 separate Cancun properties cause much of the confusion:
The Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort Villas & Spa, Cancun This is the villa-style resort with paid dining.
The Westin Cancun Resort & Spa This is a different property in the Cancun Hotel Zone.
Marriott lists the hotels separately. An announced conversion involving The Westin Cancun Resort & Spa does not automatically apply to Westin Lagunamar.
Check the exact hotel name and booking rate before assuming that meals or drinks are included.
Is Westin Lagunamar a Good Alternative to an All-Inclusive Resort?
Westin Lagunamar can be a good alternative if you want more control over meals and spending. The villas suit families and longer stays because guests can prepare food, buy groceries onsite or eat at restaurants around Cancun. The resort also has beachfront access, pools, a waterslide, a spa and facilities for families.
Choose a true all-inclusive resort if you want:
- Meals and drinks covered in one upfront price
- Poolside food and alcohol without signing separate bills
- Less meal planning
- A resort-focused holiday with little need to leave the property
If included food and drinks are your priority, choose a property whose booking description explicitly says all-inclusive.
